Refugee Resettlement in Minnesota and the recent travel ban

 

The presentation clarifies the legal definition of who is eligible to have refugee status and briefly describes the Refugee Admissions System. Facts about who is currently in Minnesota with refugee status and how the recent Presidential Executive orders and court rulings effect refugees and the state of Minnesota will explain the impact of recent changes in federal policy.
 
Patricia has worked with diverse communities for over 17 years.  Most of her career has focused on refugee and immigrant populations.  She was the Executive Director for the refugee resettlement agency, World Relief Minnesota, worked in community development with immigrants for the City of Eden Prairie and oversaw the Human Rights and Diversity Commission.  Patricia has been an adjunct professor for several local universities and teaches about social justice issues. She currently works for the Department of Human Services Refugee Programs Office in education, outreach and refugee workforce development.
