"CELEBRATIONS TO REMEMBER" - SOLIE ANDERSON AND ELEANOR OSTMAN
“Celebrations to Remember” is a book that was created with 30 years of party memories, photos & over 70 recipes from Finnish Chef Soile Anderson.

Soile Anderson is known for her passion, creativeness and attention to detail, all resulting in extra-ordinary experiences for those attending events where she is catering. Before she turned to writing her book of ideas and recipes, she founded Deco Catering (serving the King and Queen of Norway, President Obama, and the Dalai Lama), the Taste of Scandinavia Bakeries, and The Finnish Bistro restaurants. She also did a Scandinavian Mid-Summer Party Martha Stewart.

Eleanor Ostman, a Finn from Hibbing, was a food writer and her Sunday column, "Tested Recipes," appeared in the St. Paul Pioneer Press for three decades. She lent her expertise in writing, editing, and publishing to the book project. Solie and Eleanor will speak for no charge at local civic clubs or churches. If you are seeking speakers they would be happy to do so.

SPOTLIGHT ON STEVE CWODZINSKI
Steve was born in California and was raised by his mother and his grandfather. In middle school, his mother married and moved the family to Superior, Wisconsin where the iron ore docks were his backyard. Growing up he received as a gift from his grandfather a milk glass  that had JFK’s famous quote, “Ask not what your county can do for you but what you can do for your country”. That quote became increasingly more meaningful to Steve overtime. He graduated from high school in 1976, a time when the economy was not doing well.

He moved to the Twin Cities to attend the University of Minnesota. He found work at the Lemmington Hotel and later drove the “dog truck” picking up the deceased animals used in the laboratories of the U of M. The pay was good. After six years of school and no degree, though he had plenty of credits, he landing on teaching and finished in a year. He became an American government teacher at Eden Prairie High School, where he taught for 31 of 33 years as a teacher. One of his favorite activities as a teacher was taking the students to Washington DC.

Steve is married to his first wife, Patti. They have two children, John and Erica.

Today he is our local State Senator.
