Announcements:
Please bring DVD's (used or new) to this week's meeting to donate to the media room at Edendale.  The senior residents  have a nice new media room, thanks in part to our grant donation. Now they need something to watch! If you've gone digital and have a shelf of movies and music that you won't use, please gain your shelf back and make the Edendale residents happy. Thank you.

Kjersti Francis: Corporate and Community Engagement Officer for MacPhail Center for Music
Kjersti Francis has started and sold two businesses and in between spent ten years at home with her children.  She joined MacPhail just over a year ago and is enjoying every minute.
Kjersti spoke briefly about the history of the MacPhail Center dating back to 1907 when the MacPhail School for Violin opened.   Today they are the largest community music school in the country with 245 music teachers and 14,500 students in 45 Minnesota Counties.  Their slogan is “Music for Life” as they provide instruction for students from six weeks old on up.
Kjersti spoke of their programs focused on helping seniors and individuals dealing with disabilities and brain injury.  Music helps rebuild the neuropaths damaged by brain injury. The programs for older adults are becoming very popular.
Check out their web site at http://www.macphail.org/ for more information.
