Jenny Hansen, a Gopher gymnast from 2000-2003 and a former volunteer assistant coach, finished her third season at the helm for the Gopher women's gymnastics program in 2017. She will provide an overview on the University of Minnesota's Womens Athletic Department.

Under her tenure, the Gophers advanced to the 2016 NCAA Championships as a full team - the first time since 2013. Hansen was named the 2016 Big Ten Coach of the Year as the team finished with a 9-0 Big Ten record, a feat the program has never done. The Maroon and Gold also were named the Big Ten Regular-Season Champions. In her time with the Gophers as a full-time coach since 2007, Minnesota has gone 167-102-3 and has been selected for an NCAA Regional every season.

Jamie Trachsel was named head coach of the University of Minnesota softball team on July 24, 2017. Trachsel comes to Dinkytown from Iowa State, where she led the Cyclones for one year following six at the helm of perennial NCAA Tournament contender North Dakota State. Her hiring at Minnesota will be official after a standard university background check is completed.

"Jamie is one of the country’s premier young softball coaches and we’re excited to bring her to Minnesota to lead our program and build on the success we’ve had in recent years,” said Athletics Director Mark Coyle. “Jamie’s leadership has consistently produced winning results. That track record, paired with her Midwestern roots and proven ability to develop the skills of her student-athletes throughout their collegiate careers, makes her the perfect fit for the Gophers.”
