Rachel Weyandt, Miss Minnesota's Outstanding Teen 2015
Rachel's platform is Foster Care to Adoption, something that has played the biggest role in her life. She hopes to make an impact on not only foster children, but their foster families as well. Rachel's family has cared for 22 foster children and she has one adopted sister. Through her personal experiences Rachel hopes to eliminate the stigma attached to foster care and adoption and expand on the benefits. Rachel is in the beginning stages of starting her own non-profit organization. This organization will support three branches of her platform including support for foster families, financial support to MN Adopt, and "Bags of Hope". "Bags of Hope" is Rachel's own unique idea that would send supplies and essentials with babies in foster care.

Eden Prairie A.M. Rotary's 2015-16 "Gift to the World" Award
Our own Becky Deelstra was recognized at the recent District Conference for her commitment to living out Rotary's "service above self" motto. "When Becky sees a need in the community, she works creatively with our club to find ways to address these needs." Becky's gifts to the community and the club over the past year are many and include: organizing and championing the "Chicken Challenge" for PROP, serving as EPAM Board Secretary, organizing the new large-print book program for low-income seniors (including purchasing books and starting book clubs), leading the revision of club bylaws, and her continued leadership as chair of the successful Vino Classico fundraising event. Congratulations Becky on this well deserved award.
