Jan mentioned, we “Leading from the Bottom” Rotary members are at the top and then the committee chairs and the officers. Jan reviewed the visioning exercise held at Star Bank which a number of members attended. The question was asked, “What will the club look like in 2020?” After brainstorming, discussing and choosing items we came away with “the final four”: 1) Effective Marketing – Social media and website to appeal to younger audience; 2) All Rotarians engaged in at least one committee or activity; 3) Develop a community leadership academy for rising leaders; and 4) Signature project to reduce teen homelessness. Mark Weber spoke about effective marketing and public relations. Craig mentioned the importance of all members engaged in at least one committee or activity. This is essential for attracting new members. Irene spoke about determining each member’s interests and abilities ensuring strong leadership in our club and our community. Working in partnership with other organizations to ensure that all homeless teens have safe housing in Eden Prairie. Jan handed out a one page sheet we will refer to as the placemat with these projects and our goals to be achieved by 2020. Jan adjourned the meeting after stating that the way we turn the Rotary Wheel is by working together for club fundraising, accomplish meaningful projects and increase memberships.
