Club Assembly with President Jan Eian and Club Board Members
What’s your gift to Eden Prairie A.M. Rotary and to the world? That was the question of the day when Club President Jan Eian and members of the Board of Directors on July 28 asked club members to sign up for a committee or committees for the 2015-16 Rotary year. Members were asked to consider all of the various involvement opportunities offered by the club, in the areas of Community Service, Administration, Vocational Service, Public Relations, Membership & Social, International Service, and the Rotary Foundation. Members are invited to sign up for an area or areas now, or continue the discussion at a future meeting so work in these various service areas can continue. Please contact Jan or any of the Board members if you need more information about these involvement opportunities.
Announcements
Dan and Mary O’Brien have agreed to be the initial hosts of our incoming foreign-exchange student, but more hosts are needed for this school year. Contact Dan or Jane McGinty if you can help.
Sponsorships and silent-auction items are needed for our Oct. 10 Vino Classico event.
Chanhassen Rotary won the recent Chicken Challenge, but the big winner was PROP, which had 1,950 cans of chicken donated for its summer food program.
People are needed to work the PROP table at Eden Prairie Shopping Center on Aug. 16, 17, and 19 for two-hour shifts and take donated school supplies as part of the PROP Backpack Drive. Watch for the sign-up list circulating at meetings.
Spotlight on Perfect Attendees
Roger Jorgensen recognized club members -- new members and veteran ones – who have recorded perfect attendance at meetings. They ranged from new members who have had perfect attendance for a partial year to 34 years of perfect attendance by David Anderson. Congratulations to all of these people.
Happy Fines
We’re happy. And we’re willing to pay fines for being so. Elaine Larabee was happy to have seen America at Work from the seat of a pick-up truck while returning from Colorado with her son, who was taking a class at Colorado College. Janet Palmer of PROP was happy about the amount of canned chicken donated through the
Chicken Challenge. John Crudele was happy about having heard inspiring speakers at a national speakers association convention over the weekend. Dan O’Brien was happy about being “unplugged” during a vacation in the Wisconsin Dells area. Jim Bissonett was happy to note that if you’re ever looking for an easy way to make up a missed Rotary meeting, use the Rotary eClub of the Southwest USA, which he belongs to. Jan Eian was happy that her home was no longer “party central” for visiting relatives.
Visitors
We had a number of visitors, including Rotarians Jim Bissonett and Jack Kuehn, and soon-to-be-inducted John Melander.
