Rank Choice Voting – Casey Krolczyk
Casey was a Rotary Youth Exchange student in 2008/2009. He worked on the Franken Senate campaign and most recently spent January through August of this year in Duluth working on the rank choice voting initiative. Casey explained the process of rank choice voting and cited the benefits of rank choice including-
- Lower cost (saved $45,000 in Duluth) due to elimination of primary election.
- Results more reflective of community.
- Reduces negative campaigning as candidate wants to be voters 2nd or 3rd choice if not number 1.

Casey reported that ranked choice voting has been growing in the US and internationally. Both Minneapolis and St. Paul used ranked choice. Minneapolis voter turnout was 80,000 which was the highest in twelve years and two thirds of voters liked it and would like it expanded to statewide elections.

- Yvonne Selcer announced that Beyond the Yellow Ribbon will be sending Holiday cards and she encouraged Rotarians to bring their extra cards to the next meeting.

- The Vino Committee is soliciting feedback on how to increase ticket sales for the event and potential new fundraiser for the spring of the year.
Spotlight on Yvonne Selcer
Yvonne grew up as the oldest of six children in Winsted, MN where her father took over the Winsted Telephone Company. She graduated from college in Winona, MN and taught school for a while and later went to work in the family business. Upon sale of the Company she became a national sales manager and more recently was elected to represent the northern part of Eden Prairie and Minnetonka in the Minnesota House of
Representatives. Yvonne and her husband Chuck have been married for thirty years and they have two children. Their daughter is a teacher and son is a senior at Loyola Marymount.
