September 14 Notes
Our very own Elaine Larabee spoke on restarting the STRIVE program after our pandemic-induced hiatus. EPHS teachers also spoke on the AVID program at Eden Prairie and how the program helps students get a head start on college.  Rotarians have the opportunity to once again get involved with STRIVE. Students from EPHS involved in AVID need mentors and rotarians getting involved can help them make lifelong connections and network while also paving a path for their future.

Notes from August 31st

Rylee Dennin, Summer Stephens, Anna Maristela

Senior Interns

Rylee Dennin going to be a senior at Eden Prairie High School. Throughout her life she has been very active in the community. Rylee has been diving for around 8 years and has been a captain for the Bearpath swim and dive team along with the Eden Prairie girls swim and dive team. She also participates for the girls gymnastics team at the high school as well. Rylee loves to travel and see the world. After highschool she is planning on attending a 4-year university with her top school being San Diego State University; she hopes to pursue digital marketing.

Anna Maristela is also a rising senior at EPHS this year. She is most involved in the band program at the high school and has been the clarinet section leader for two years. It has shown her how to lead a team and create a community bond. This summer, Anna has also been organizing a benefit concert for The Bridge for Youth, an organization in the Twin Cities that aids homeless youth. Additionally, Anna is a Volunteer Staff Lead with Greenpeace, an environmental organization that urges citizens to contact their local legislatures about environmental bills that are about to be voted on. After high school, Anna plans to attend a 4-year college, hopefully at UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, or University of Michigan Ann Arbor, where she will be studying biochemistry and/or neuroscience.

Summer spoke on her experience growing up overseas and the effect of her dad’s job on her future career decisions. She also explained the importance of sports and volunteering in her life presently. In the future, Summer wants to attend UNC Chapel Hill and explore the FBI and real estate as future career options.
