Speaker: Jim Brimeyer, CEO of Global Synergy Group
After decades of public and private sector management, community service and more, Jim Brimeyer, “semi-retirement,” became CEO of the Global Synergy Group. The St. Louis Park Rotarian spoke to us about Global Synergy's leadership development work with youth and adults from the Ukraine.
According to its website, the nonprofit “engages local government officials, civic and youth organizations and business leaders in the exchange of ideas, information, and expertise to develop and explore innovative solutions to universal community issues. Global Synergy Group provides expertise, training, and facilitation designed to promote civic engagement and to create opportunities for partnerships that strengthen communities.”
Jim says the purpose is to build governance capacity by:
fostering an environment for economic growth
becoming more familiar with governance models
growing an understanding and appreciation for our own and others
cultural learning and friendship building
strategic thinking
engaging citizens
having fun
Jim talked about the youth engagement exchanges and leadership partnerships formed between Minnesotans and Ukrainians. He said the interest in how business and government operates in the United States is huge as the Ukraine continues to navigate difficult terrain post-Soviet rule.
He spoke about the friendships formed between youth and government leaders through the engagement exchanges that have happened between Minnesota and Ukraine. He also talked about Global Synergy Group plans for youth trip to Iran.

Spotlight on Prafulla Vegunta
Prafulla was born in a town in southeast India. He attended boarding schools and went on to become a sports journalist in India, and after coming to the United States in 1998, he went on to manage Human Resources for staffing company. Praf has been in Eden Prairie since 2004 and loves the community and especially his neighborhood. He has a wife and six-year-old daughter (6), loves sports, loves community service and the nonprofit world. He says he grew up going to Lions Club meetings. He appreciates the impact Rotary has in the community and the world. For him, Rotary is more than just networking and having fun. It shows what people coming together can do for the greater good.

Dan O’Brien thanked Latha Iyer for helping entertain Rotary exchange student, Art. He was happy to take part in Swallowship on Thursday - he discovered interesting facts about his fellow Rotarians, including that Roger just got new tires. He is also happy to be a grandfather and the work that comes with taking care of the grandkids - fun of cleaning up, the guarding against catastrophe, etc.
Mark Lewis is happy that he and Corrine are on their way to Florida and will go to the International Village Clinic fundraiser.
Kevin Kraemer was thankful his daughter passed driver’s test, but was not happy about the hike in his insurance premium.
John Crudele had best golf game of his life — so good, in fact, that he actually wrote down the score! He is also happy to be heading out to Wyoming for five day hunting trip.
