Notes from Aug. 14, 2018
Rotary District 5950 Governor Irene Kelly
Topic:   Be the Inspiration
Rotary District 5950 Gov. Irene Kelly, in her address to the Eden Prairie A.M. Rotary Club on Aug. 14, challenged club members to think about their role in making Rotary better.

Irene, a member of the A.M. club, also urged us to “be the inspiration” to others. She has a recipe for doing so, and the important parts of that recipe include passion, purpose, people, and positivity. Together, those can yield big things. One of the “yields” she hopes to achieve in her one-year role as district governor is an upward tick in female/minority membership to 50.3% of the whole, or reflective of the general population. She also hopes to see full use of the Rotary grant funds allocated to the district – in past years, some of those funds have gone unused.
She also emphasized the need for Rotarians to recognize good work, and to prove her point she acknowledged the contributions of Bob Solohub, a club member who for years has documented club activities with his camera work.

You can keep up with Irene’s travels and work by following Rotary District 5950 on Facebook.

SPOTLIGHT ON DENNIS KIM
Our vocational came from Dennis Kim, who was born in South Korea, one of eight children in a farm family that reunited this summer in Minnesota. Dennis is passionate about his family, music, Rotary – especially Rotary Youth Exchange and New Generation Exchange programs – and his business. His EVS Engineering is composed of civil engineers and they are nationally known for work in the solar-energy industry, and hope to be worldwide soon. Thank you for your many contributions to A.M. Rotary, Dennis.
