“What lead me to Rotary… … Camp Rising Sun”
Tim Conners is joined by Laura Wondra to share information on Camp Rising Sun (CRS) and the Louis August Jonas Foundation (LAJF). Laura is the current Program Director at Camp Rising Sun and attended high school in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
As you may remember from my happy five a few weeks ago, CRS celebrates its 90th year this year in 2020. Tim points to CRS as a robust experience in a group setting where Rotarian values around acceptance of diversity and service beyond self, became a part of his day to day approach to living.
The Mission of LAJF is to develop in young people throughout the a lifelong commitment to compassionate and responsible leadership. The keynotes of the program are to:
- Foster an appreciation of both diversity and our common humanity
- Expand intellectual horizons and heighten artistic sensibilities
- Develop leadership abilities and self- reliance in a safe environment
- Offer and demonstrate a philosophy of living to serve society through the pursuit of humanitarian goals
