Dr. Josh Swason and Dr. Stacie Stanley: EP Schools upcoming referendum--- long term vision, facilities

Drs. Swanson and Stanley presented a brief update on enrollment, new welcome center, personalized learning accomplishments and the upcoming levy vote. EP Schools had the first increase in enrollment in a decade. The welcome center was opened across from Central Middle School. The 2014 operating levy provided necessary funding to enable the district to reduce class sizes and made Eden Prairie a leader in personalized learning. The current levy was the culmination of three years of facility planning resulting in the board approving a $39.9M bond levy to –
  • Increase access to flexible learning space, including redesigning classrooms,
  • Move pre-school to elementary schools,
  • Move 6th grade to middle school,
  • Improve security at every school
  • Upgrade performing arts, physical education/wellness and cafeteria spaces at CMS, and
  • Add a classroom wing at CMS
The impact to taxpayers is $6.50 per month on a $400,000 home. Details of the levy request can be found at

  • Several of the next meetings are off-site. Please check calendar and watch emails to make sure you are going to the correct location.
  • Holly and Suzanne have planned some social gatherings, one of which is a June 16th Lake Minnetonka Boat Cruise. Watch for sign ups at meetings
