SPOTLIGHT ON PEI LING JAMISON
Pei Ling was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Her parents were refugees from Cambodia and she is the first in her family to be born in the United States. She grew up learning two languages, Cantonese and English, and one result of this left her English with fewer of the adjectives and adverbs that might have softened Pei Ling’s tendency to be “very direct”. She noted that in high school people would send someone her way if they wanted the straight scoop. Though she claims she is not “Minnesota Nice” she might be surprised as to how many would disagree. Other firsts in her family include Pei Ling being the first to graduate from high school and the first to graduate from college. She did her undergraduate work at Nebraska and then Augustana in Sioux Falls, and her doctorate at Pacific University in Oregon. Her parents operate a restaurant where seven day work weeks were not uncommon. That entrepreneurial spirit led her to open her own business and today she operates Jamison Optical located at 7912 Eden Prairie Rd. She noted that vision today has more demands than in the past with technology and computers, and more complex lifestyle needs. Furthermore eyewear is an extension of you and reflects who you are. Pei Ling was married in 2005 and she two wonderful girls.
